Oak Grove Middle School

The Division of Elementary and Secondary Education has issued a waiver that allows Districts to transition their calendar from traditional to alternate. Alternate calendars require 1,068 hours. Through the waiver process Districts have been allowed to "bank" instructional time and substitute that time for inclement weather days. The Paragould School District exceeds the minimum standard of 6 hours of instruction each day and will take advantage of the waiver process. Transitioning to an alternate calendar ensures that all PreK-12 students will NOT be required to make up inclement weather days for up to 7 days. The District is currently exploring calendar options for the 2024-2025 school start date. We are asking for your feedback. Hey OGMS families! We would LOVE to see you at our parent/teacher conferences tomorrow night from 4-7. Talk to your child's teachers, get grade reports, shop the book fair (last day!), and order a yearbook! Don't have an order form? That's okay! Forms will be available at the conferences, as well as old copies of yearbooks from years past. Also remember, NO SCHOOL ON FRIDAY! This is a teacher work day.

Book fair announcement: Please read! Hi all, we've been seeing quite a few students who are bringing in their parents' Cashapp cards and debit cards during our spring book fair. While we DO accept plastic for payment, the card needs to have the child's name on it. We understand that a lot of folks don't readily have cash on hand. However, for security reasons (and Mrs. Kathy's sanity), we ask that students don't come to school with their parents' debit/Cashapp/credit cards. The simplest solution is to create an eWallet account for your child (it works as an electronic gift card for Scholastic. To set up an eWallet account, please follow this link: https://www.scholastic.com/bf/oakgrovemiddleschool2 During parent/teacher conferences, parents and families are welcome to come and pay with credit cards, debit cards, cashapp cards, and so on. Spring Book Fair is here! The fair will be open today through Monday of next week. Cash, checks (filled out by parents - no blank ones), and eWallet payments are accepted. During parent teacher conferences, debit and credit cards are also accepted. Please mark your calendars if you haven't already for our spring Parent/Teacher conference date! We will happily meet with parents on Thursday, February 8 from 4-7 pm at Oak Grove Middle School. Grade reports, student classroom behavior, and other information will be discussed at these meetings. Attention Little Dancers and OGMS Archers! Little Dancers - The game and performance scheduled for tonight has been CANCELED. Rescheduled date of performance is January 24th. Little Dancers should meet in the PJHS gym at 5:30pm on 1/24/24. They will perform during half time of the boys game (approximately 6:00pm). Attention Little Dancers and Pageant Participants: The Little Dancers who attended the Saturday clinic will meet in the PHS lobby (parents can drop them with PHS dancers under the awning at the PHS Main Entrance) at 5:30pm and will perform at half time of the girls game tomorrow (Friday 1/19/24) night. Please join us on Thursday, January 11, 2024, for our 2nd nine weeks awards assemblies! These will take place in the OGMS Gym. 6th grade: 12:45 5th grade: 1:45 Awards for principal's list, honor roll, perfect attendance, special classes, and Accelerated Reader will be given during this time. 2nd quarter music students will be performing with their flutaphones at the beginning of the assembly.
