We know the school year is wrapping up but it's never too early to start prepping for the ACT! PHS will host an ACT bootcamp on Saturday, June 3rd, from 8:00am-12:15pm for the June 10th exam. We will have English, Reading, Science, and Math prep for 1 hour each. Snacks will be provided. Have students check their emails for the google form link to attend. If they cannot find it, please email scooper@paragouldschools.net so I can send it to them directly. Also, Summer ACT Bootcamp will be July 10th-14th. Monday - Thursday will be 9:00am - 1:15pm and will cover English, Reading, Science, and Math for 1 hour each day. Snacks and water will be provided. On Friday, students will take a mock exam from 8:00 - 11:30am and then pizza will be provided for the students while the teachers grade the results. Students will then attend a review session with each teacher to better prepare them for the July 15th ACT exam. We have many student testimonies of raising their ACT score 2-6 points by attending this summer bootcamp. Prizes given away daily for students who attend. Please check your student email for the google form link. If you cannot find it, email scooper@paragouldschools.net and she will send you a direct link. Thank you!

Do a quick Google search and you will see there are more than 32,000 teachers in the state of Arkansas. What it won't tell you is that yesterday, two of PSD's 4th grade teachers, Julia Sleeper and Farrah Wilcox, were recognized as high impact teachers for multiple years of high student growth. Only 50 teachers in Arkansas achieved this high honor and Mrs. Sleeper and Ms. Farrah are the only two in NEA! Pictured with our high impact teachers is Ivy Pfeffer, Deputy Commissioner of the Arkansas Department of Education who presented them with their award. They will be participating in focus groups for the DESE this summer. Congratulations! We are proud of you!

OGMS EAST students Eden Treece and Zoe Stallings met with the Fraternal Order of Police to propose a potential EAST project. Eden and Zoe want to help fund (2) $500 scholarships for graduating PHS EAST seniors. They want to give back to the students that made such a positive impact on the program that they love. Community partners, White Inc. and Downtown Nutrition have already funded a portion of the scholarship. OGMS SRO Stephen Pace presented Eden and Zoe with a check this morning for the remaining amount needed to make this project a reality! Next Eden and Zoe will collaborate with the High School and Jr High EAST programs to finalize an application process before selecting the recipients to be awarded at the Senior awards assembly on May 5th at PHS! Huge thank you to our community partners, White Inc., Downtown Nutrition, and The Fraternal Order of Police! Way to go, Rams!

Congratulations to the PHS Rotary Interact Club and sponsor, Sara Dickey! They have raised $8,000 and are granting a child's wish through Make-A-Wish today at 1:30pm at Ram Stadium. They are thrilled to get to do this for Ay'Den who is 9 years old. A HUGE thanks to everyone who helped to make this possible by purchasing bed sheets since their 2018 wish presentation. Be sure to see the beautiful yard card for Ay'Den on the corner of Court and 49, which was generously shared by I GOT CARDED.

Way to go, PSD! We won the blood battle between PHS and GCT with the help of staff, students and the public. In the end though, the real winners are the potential 510 lives saved by the schools coming together to donate blood. #psdrams #bloodbattle #americanredcross
