This week in Mrs. Tonya’s and Mrs. Jessica’s science class, we were learning about patterns of motion and friction. The children learned about wheel-and-axle systems. They were then asked to get into teams and construct their own vehicles using wheels and axles. They designed five different prototypes, recorded their hypotheses, and tested out their different designs. Once
they recorded the results from their multiple trials, they chose the best model that would go the furthest distance and that was their vehicle that they raced in an ultimate road rally.
All the students were competing for the “Dojo Cup”. Third place contestants each received a medal and 5 dojo points apiece, second place teammates received medals and 7 dojo points each, and first place winners each received a medal, trophies, and 10 dojo points each.
3rd place: Team Pepperoni – Edith Womack and Jason Ball
2nd place: Team Cheetah – Leslie Thomas and Parker Lancaster
1st place: Fire Team – Khaleesi Lamb and Daviyona Turner
